Travelling has become an essential part of modern life, but it is also important to live with a nomadic attitude even when we’re at home. As a travel lover, Agnès shares her philosophy of life through the Fall Winter 2019 homme collection: Inspired by the falling leaves, romantic rainy night, beautiful scenery of urban city and countryside, she arouses our interests of the surroundings so that we can live with an exciting mood and adventurous spirit. A “Parisian Travelogue” illustrated by fashion.
Agnès takes inspiration from every little detail around her. Watching the leaves turning from yellow to red in her garden, she is inspired to draw a countryside look. A palette of dark brown, light brown and copper are brightened by the energetic vibes of yellow and orange, while touches of beige create a sense of dandiness. Faithful to her convictions, she is aiming for comfortable silhouettes by enlarging trousers and by lengthened coats. According to her, coats have to be worn under the knees. Knits and sweaters can be tucked into trousers to create a college look. Thicker fabrics such as corduroy, sweatshirt and twill add texture to the look. Stripes, borders, checks, herringbone and graphic patterns give a hint of color and add a contemporary mood to fulfil the “French countryside”.
Always inspired by Parisian dandies, Agnès makes her contemporary interpretation of classic shapes and presents the “Les Nouveaux Parisiens” series. Jackets have to be short to show our new high waist pants and their beautiful pleats. Shirts and turtle neck jersey T-shirts are worn bashed into trousers to create a clean and sleek silhouette. A myriad of berets and hats are inseparable accessories. She also proposed a new Parisian wardrobe by adding a few denim and cowboy-inspired items. A new approach of rock and roll is proposed by pairing tight pants with slim cut jackets in cool black or grey intensified by a touch of silver accessories. To enhance the hippie style of this Beatnik look, Agnès has also invited artist Raphaël Gray to draw an illustration of Allen Ginsberg, paying tribute to this significant poet in the 60s and 70s.
Fitting is important for sporty looks, which can be clumsy or dull when a tiny bit goes wrong. For this series, Agnès combines sportswear chic with easy casual styles to draw a comfortable wardrobe. By picking black and white, red and blue as the major colours, she shakes the rule that sportswear must be in sharp colours and fancy patterns, while paying attention to the lines and cuts to ensure a slender, effortless look. Wide pants made with jersey, cotton twill and corduroy are not only warm and comfortable, but also give flexibility to sporty boys. Jersey sweaters are key products and we have developed different designs based on historical agnès b. items with a dedicated labelling. Raglan sleeves jersey sweaters, zipped collar jersey sweaters and hoodie sweaters are presented in a diverse selection of colours. In addition to the Artist Tee Collection every season, the rainy night scene photo taken by Agnès at the back of Notre Dame de Paris is transformed into a signature photo print in this series, presenting a mix of street and athleisure style. There are also new logo developments with the hollow “agnès b.” in handwriting style and the short version “AB.”, which become surprisingly playful when combined with classic monochrome plaids. This is a new interpretation of sportswear that challenges perception.
The year 2019 is particularly meaningful for agnès b. as it marks the 40th anniversary of its iconic Snap Cardigan. For this occasion, a range of menswear’s snap cardigan are featured in different colours, including « Nacre »、« Yvan » and « Bronze ». Wintery colours such as amber yellow, purple and olive are added along with the classic black and dark grey, while a red and black check version is especially introduced as a star product. Agnès also designed a new short snap cardigan to show the high waist pants, where the high collar design also allows you to create a great variety of emblematic looks.
